Set up simple "deadline tracker" (calendar reminders)
Missing a deadline in America can destroy your visa status, cost you money, or get you evicted. Set up a calendar system NOW. Add reminders for visa expiration, I-20 renewal, lease end, and rent payments. Set alerts 6 months in advance for immigration deadlines. Use clear labels: 'Pay Rent' and 'Check I-20 expiration in 6 months.'
There are many dates to remember. If you miss one, it could hurt your legal status.
- You can always use a calendar app on your phone. Set reminders for when your I-20 or visa expires. Also, mark when your lease ends and when your next rent payment is due.
- Use short notes like "Pay Rent" and longer notes like "Check I-20 expiration date in 6 months." This keeps you organized and less stressed.
